I have a kenmore elite dryer, about 2 years old; do not find a model num but it has the knob controls not the digital control panel. A couple of months ago it stopped heating. I Khmer it out and found the thermalcutoff was an open circuit so I bought and installed a new one. Now one month later and same problem. Before I dive into troubleshooting again is there any service bulletin I should be aware of? Starting tofeel like a design defect rather than a bad part... Thanks.

Dennis, this is Kevyn with the Sears Blue Service Crew. Even if there was a bulletin out for this dryer, I would not be able to look for it without the model number. Also, gas and electric dryers have different components. This makes it hard to diagnose over the internet. One thing to check is the electricity. Ensure the correct voltage is flowing to your dryer. The most common cause for electric dryers to stop heating is the circuit breaker being tripped. Locate the circuit breaker for your dryer and turn them off and back on several times, even if it doesn't look like they are tripped. Other causes could be the timer contact, thermal fuse, heating element, safety and operating thermostat or a broken wire. I have a Kenmore washer #110228821101. Hasn't agitated very well and decided to purchase a agitator kit. Following the instruction, I pulled the cap and I was to unbolt the agitator and remove the top portion. There was no bolt head visible. Looking from the top, I could see that there was the shaft portion of what must be the remaining portion of the bolt but no head. The odd thing is that there was no head of a sheared bolt visible when I removed the cap.
Only thing I can think is that this occured during manufacturing, and someone never said anything.
How to I remove this when there is nothing to grab on to. Do you think a Sear repairman can pull this?

Hi Joe A., I'm Cameron a Sears Blue Service Crew member. I'm sorry to hear you have run into this problem when trying to replace the agitator on your washing machine. I definitely know what it's like to be following instructions and something not be where it is supposed to be. I checked with a few people on this issue, and there could be a few things going on. Without being there to see what you're seeing, it makes it a bit difficult. If these suggestions don't help, and you have the ability to take a picture and upload it to the computer, you might be able to get more help from www.ManageMyLife.com, by registering and asking a question of our experts there--you can attach pictures to give them a better idea of what we're working with. In the meantime, many washers, when trying to replace the agitator, require a special wrench to take that bolt out. Our technicians would have one of these. If that's not the case, perhaps using an Easy-Out tool would work. In any case, it is worth having a technician look at it. There would typically be a charge, but if the technician could not complete the repair, they would offer a voucher toward getting a new washer at Sears. Have an old Sears dryer, #11086582110. It's 25 years old and I hate to give it up. It has been fantastic! Had replaced the heating element once and replace the wheels for the drum twice.
I've ran into a problem I can't figure it out. The dryer heats and drys the cloths but the timer wasn't moving. If I set it for more dry, the towels would be dried but the timer didn't move. I replaced the timer with a new one I ordered from Sears and nothing has changed. Timer stays where I set it. What do you think?

This is Tino with the Sears Blue Service Crew. Joe I would like to assist you with this issue because I definitely understand what a confusing situation this is, especially after having replaced the timer once already. We can try a hardwire reset, which is shutting off the breaker to the outlet the Dryer is connected to for two minutes. Then turn it back on and try to run the dryer. The reason you turn off the breaker instead of unplugging it is because when you unplug the machine, power still remains in the outlet and it may not work as best. When the breaker is off, power ceases in the outlet and when you turn it back on it restarts that energy and in turn restarts the unit. If that does not seem to work, then the next best thing to do would be to set service. You can do that yourself if you like by our www.SearsHomeServices.com website, or you can call 1-800-803-6775 and any of our associates will gladly assist you. I really hope this helps Joe!

my kenmore refrigerator has a freon leak and my energy service does not fix them. is this something that can be fixed at not a huge price or do I need to buy a new fridge?

I can definitely understand your concern with finding out if fixing the Freon leak is more cost effective then having the refrigerator replaced. I'm happy to help you today. It would really depend on the type of refrigerator and where the Freon leak is located. If the leak is in the evaporator coil the evaporator would need to be replaced because it's made of aluminum and cannot be repaired with any guaranties. If the leak is in the condenser coils it may or may not be repaired depending on location. If the leak is on the low side and is using 134a refrigerant, it would most likely need a compressor due to contamination in the sealed system. The total cost of repair could be half or more than the cost of a new energy efficient refrigerator.
It is possible that the cost of repairing this type of Freon leak (and refilling it) may exceed the cost of buying a new refrigerator. There are too many variables to accurately predict the cost of this repair.
