BBQ time is back

The recent spate of warm spring days here in the Midwest has everyone in much improved moods. Entranced by the sunshine, everyone pours out onto porches, sidewalks and yards, squeezing as much outdoor time as possible into their days.

I got home from work the other day and eagerly opened my windows to let fresh air in. And that's when it hit: The delicious smell of food cooking on the grill. I could hear people down the block laughing as they prepared dinner alfresco. A girl with no grill, I immediately wished I had spent the winter befriending these neighbors. I cursed my lack of foresight.

I think BBQ is the greatest and the lingering smell of charred meat and veggies has me thinking about purchasing a grill. I'm currently considering the big question: "Charcoal or gas?" I love the smell of charcoal, but as a novice griller, I'm drawn to the cooking control gas grills offer.

So what do you think? Charcoal or gas? Also, don't forget to schedule your annual grill maintenance check to ensure you have the best tasting burgers on the block all summer long.

Comments:

I just finished cleaning our propane gas grill (Model # 141.16691). I filled up a propane tank, attached it to the grill and thought I was ready to go. I followed the instructions to open all values (this grill has 6 burners) and let them all air out for 5 -6 minutes. I hooked everything back up, opened the tank valve very slowly to about half way, lit the burner furthest from the tank on High and then opened 2 other burners, then opened the tank valle all the way. The problem is, when I try and turn on burner 6 (5 are lit and burning), all burners go out! I tried the above steps 3 - 4 times and get the same results. Again; this is with a propane tank I just had filled! Can you help me??

This is Tino with the Sears Blue Service Crew. Steve, I would like to assist you because I understand how having your burners turn off on you can not only be puzzling but also an inconvenience for you. The most likely reason for this is because the tubing for the 6th burner is clogged and will need to be cleaned. When this tubing is clogged, it causes a back draft causing the other burners to go out. If this does not solve the problem, I recommend to visit our www.ManageMyLife.com website, create a profile (its free!), create a screen name, click on the red "Answers" tab and ask our experts. If your question has been answered, then we will provide the answer or "like" answers. If not, the page displayed will ask for any additional information.

If there are no more details you would like to include, then hit submit and your question will be submitted to our expert team who will respond in about 2 business days. Please feel free to call us at 1-800-424-2047 or visit our www.SearsHomeServices.com to schedule service with our certified technicians.
