Check out all of the rooms in our new home
Building a new website is a little bit like building a new home. There are many choices about how things should look and what kinds of features to include. All of these decisions come together to make the new online home for Sears Home Services both easy-to-use and comfortable.
We know that quick and easy scheduling is important. The Sears Home Services scheduler makes it simple to schedule the service you need in 3 easy steps. Give us your ZIP code and the type of service you're looking for, and we'll show you when we can be there and any charges for that service. And if you have questions about scheduling, just call the toll-free number or hit the "Phone" icon and we'll give you a call to answer as many questions as possible.
Speaking of questions, there are times when just trying to figure out whether service is needed or not is the first step. The Blue Service Crew tools - included on every page on the site - might have the information needed to solve problems on your own. Use "Find An Answer" to describe your problem and see if we've already posted an answer to your question. Find owner's manuals and find the part you need from the over 7 million parts from Sears PartsDirect.
Your comments and feedback are always appreciated. Post your comments here, hit the feedback button on each page, or use the Contact Us form to send us your questions, suggestions or other comments. We're ready to help!

Hello. I have a Kenmore HE2 Plus Washer Model 110.47512602 and the seal was ripped and it leaks badly. Looking at SearsParts Direct it looks like it would be the Bellow. Is this the correct term for the front seal when you open the washer? How do you replace it? Are there detailed instructions anywhere? Thanks.
Posted by Steve on April 26, 2010 at 10:20 AM CDT #
Steve, this is Kevyn with the Sears Blue Service Crew. A leaking washer is never fun. It takes time to repair such an issue. You are correct to call the part a bellow. It has many names for some reason. The following link will take you to www.ManageMyLife.com. It is a great website that has a vast amount of information for almost everything in one's home: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/questions/152795
Even though there is a different model number than yours that is listed in the link, the instructions are the same. Before you begin, please read over the images provided on the bottom of the expert's answer so you have an idea of what it is that needs to be done. If you feel confident and believe that you can tackle the repair, go for it! If you would like to have one of our technicians do the work for you, please schedule an appointment with us by using the home page of www.SearsHomeServices.com or call us at 1-800-424-2047. Good luck!

Carl, this is Kevyn with the Sears Blue Service Crew. I can definitely see the confusion this can cause. From the model number you have provided, I see a different part number for the washing machine motor that what you gave. I see that your washer takes part number 389248. This is a part substitution for the older part number which you typed. If the electric company operates at a 50Hz cycle and you have a motor that needs 60Hz, the motor will over-work itself and eventually burn out, especially if many large loads are washed. The 50 Hz/60 Hz means that it can take as low as 50 Hz, but these machines will drop below those numbers with normal use due to the weight of clothes usually being washed. So if you only are getting 50 Hz, then the motor will not be able to fluctuate as it needs to. You might be able to get away with this for a little while, but the motor and other parts will wear out faster than they normally would. Try looking for a compatible washer for that electrical current in the area. I hope everything works out for you! If you have any questions, our telephone number here is 1-800-424-2047.

Hello Jenni, this is Kevyn from the Sears Blue Service Crew. I do apologize but we cannot complete our service in that way. We would need to have someone come to the home and visually inspect the cabinets to give an estimate on the replacements. I apologize for the inconvenience. If there is anything else you need assistance with or if you would like to schedule a free in-home estimate, please call us directly at 1-800-424-2047.

If I decide not to repair my dryer, am I still charged the $129 service fee or can it be credited to a new dryer?
Posted by Howard on May 24, 2010 at 06:43 PM CDT #
This is Cameron with the Blue Service Crew. Howard, I would like to assist you with an answer to this excellent question. $129 can seem like a lot of money, especially if it's only to find out that our appliance--a dryer in this case--is going to be too costly to repair. Sears understands this, and we do have an awesome deal in place. If you decline the estimate for the parts on the dryer, you are still responsible for the $129 all inclusive labor charge. The technician can supply you with a voucher of up to $100 toward the purchase of a new dryer at Sears, though, making up most the cost of the visit. The actual value of the voucher is based on the current cost to replace the dryer with its modern day equivalent. I hope that helps. Of course, if we can be of any further assistance, feel free to reply here, email us by clicking on my name just below this post, or even give us a call at 1-800-424-2047. Thanks again for choosing Sears Home Services.

I would appreciate if you could explain to me the advantage and disadvantages of using salt free water softener and the conventional salt base softener. Thanks
Posted by Jason Curtis on August 10, 2010 at 12:50 PM CDT #
Hi Jason Curtis, I'm Jon a Sears Blue Service Crew member. This is a great question and one that a lot of people are looking into these days. Salt-Free water softeners use a catalytically working filter (Nano-Technology.) They remove the existing lime-scale that has formed on pipes, and then prevent future formation from occurring. Based on water softener consumer reports, salt-free water softeners come in as the most preferable choice. Advantages: No salt or potassium is needed, and the minerals and nutrients in the water are not effected. There are no chemicals added to the water, and there is no waste water. Disadvantages: Salt-Free Water Softeners are not recommended for water hardness levels above 25 grains per gallon. It’s definitely a great item to have if your water hardness is below the 25 grains. For further questions please feel free to contact us here at Sears Home Services at 1-800-424-2047.

We have a Kenmore Model 110.47512602 front load washer. It started to leak during the spin cycle. Nothing is coming out of the rear hose or leaking there. Is there a lint trap that needs cleaning? If yes, where is it? Any other suggestions?
Posted by paul a. on August 22, 2010 at 08:50 PM CDT #
Hello, Paul A. My name is Cameron, and I'm part of the Sears Blue Service Crew. I can imagine your concern with the unexplained leak coming from your washing machine. Your washer does have a pump filter located in the lower right hand side. You will need to access the service panel below the washer door from the front. I've provided a link here for a similar washer and how to check the filter:
http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/questions/136898-does-the-washer-have-a-filter
For further assistance, please reply here on the blog, email us at contactus@searshomeservices.com, or give us a call at 1-800-424-2047.
