Mark - According to an expert answer on ManageMyHome.com, the HF code on your washer can be cased by the following conditions: If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine, the valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. OR If the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow sensor has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash. You can see full troubleshooting advice here: http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/answers/Answers.action#l4q117941

I have a Craftsman chain saw (18" and 42cc with easy start) that I bought about 3 years ago. Can't find my owners manual (my bad) and can't find a model number on the saw to look up online manual. Where is model number or can you guess something close? Problem is after real good service since I bought, I couldn't start after about 3 hr continuous cutting. Still couldn't once cooled off. Put in new plug, new fuel filter and cleaned air filter. Now loses power when I put to full trigger, or will run just 1-2 seconds when I start and the die. Any ideas? Carberator problem? How can I fix myself? Thanks for your help.

We have a Kenmore Power Miser 9 water heater that is only 5.5 years old. The warranty is for 9 years. On Friday we had water leaking from the water heating all over the garage floor. We went by Sears but we were told that we had to call 800-4MY-HOME. The sales person said she was sorry. Now I know why! We could not get an emergency response until Monday - 3 days without hot water. The service man only verified that it was a leak in the tank and it was covered by warranty. He did not do water heater installs. The lady scheduling the service did not say anything about it just being a service to verifiy the problem! The technician said we would be called within 3-5 hours. We got no such call. So I called and was told by 3 different people that we would not get a call for 24-48 hours regarding an install. That means 2 more days without hot water. This is NOT service!! All we have gotten is "sorry".

I have a Kenmore Dishwasher, Model number 665.16359301. The soap is remaining in the dispenser even after the door to the detergent opens. When the wash cycle comes on, I hear a bit of water but when I open the door it is obvious that nothing is spinning, however some water is coming out of the "spinners." It does make a humming noise as well. Any idea what the issue may be and is it something I can fix myself with a little knowledge and knack for repairing things?

My Kenmore central air conditioner unit (purchased in 1995) has had problems this year. First the wires were bunched together wrong. Then when the repairman fixed that he broke one of the wires so that the only thing that ran was the fan (not the unit). Now its freezing up. All this in a matter of approx. 2 weeks. What could be causing this last problem and why don't the service people check for more than the problem customers call about? We have a master service plan on this unit.

I just tried to post some less than flattering comments about the poor reliability and service of my Sears AC unit that I have waited all day long for the tech to call me about and got the response( my comment was marked as spam and will not be displayed...) is that what Sears does now to keep unfavorable comments from being seen? I have less than 1 hour left of my 9 hour appt window and have yet to hear from the technician... I am sitting in a 90 degree hot house as I impatiently wait. The 3 phone calls to get him to call me accomplished NOTHING! POOR SERVICE!!! I will never buy sears again!!! 816-304-5858

Hi Susan & Rick! My name is Darold, part of your Sears Blue Crew! Without a model number I can give you some possible causes for a dryer not heating. Electric dryer, one circuit breaker tripped. Gas dryer, possible gas turned off. Burned wire inside the dryer. Bad thermostat in dryer. Bad timer or control board. Bad switch in motor. Vent stopped up. Bad element in electric dryer. Bad gas valve in gas dryer. Bad temperature switch in dryer. What I can recommend beyond that is to submit your question with your model number found on the inside of the door on the Answers section of www.managemyhome.com . This will allow one of our appliance experts to narrow down what may be the problem with more specific details for your specific model.

I completed a survey to inform that I am not satisfied with the service that I received today. The technician said that I needed a lid-switch, I left instructions with my wife that we needed a timing switch. The washer will fill water but will not continue the cycle. We first noticed the problem when the washer would wash but would not complete the rinse cylce. I would not recommend the home service to anyone because of this first time user problem. I need an immediate completion of the repair call. My wife called the technician on his cell phone and he informed her that he could not return until he had permission from the service office. She then contacted the 800 # and was told that the technician would not return the calls they made to him to give permission to return. What is the next step to resolve this problem today.

Hi Frank! My name is Darold, part of your Sears Blue Crew! There could be a number of reasons the dryer is not getting hot. First I want to thank you for including your model number. The specific owner’s manual for this model has and entire section on p.30 for reasons that cause this and what to check. Other things that could cause this are one circuit breaker tripped, burned wire inside the dryer, bad thermostat in dryer, bad timer or control board, bad switch in motor, vent stopped up, bad element in electric dryer, bad temperature switch in dryer. You can find the owners manual by following the below link in case you need a new copy. http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/owner_manuals/search?query=1106285

Hi Kim! My name is Darold, part of your Sears Blue Crew! I found some information on www.managemyhome.com that talked about what may be wrong with an ice dispenser. If you hear the ice dispenser auger motor running it could have broken ice dispenser door or a jammed ice cube in the ice chute. If it cannot open up no ice can pass through. The ice door could have a broken hinge tab on the ice door causing the ice door to dislodge and not open or close completely; not allowing ice to dispense. Moisture may also accumulate in the dispenser housing and ice chute because the ice door does not seal. There are other components that also can keep the auger from rotating if the auger motor is running. It could have a broken coupler or auger. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your ice dispenser.

Hi Vicki! My name is Darold, part of your Sears Blue Crew! While I was researching your question over why you’re Whirlpool Glass Top Stovetop usually this type of problem would show an error code on the oven itself. The power surge and the back sparking definitely is not a good combination. At this point I would recommend setting up a service call to have one of our technicians come out to accurately diagnose the extent of any possible damage that may have been caused by both of these events. You can set up an appointment online on www.searshomeservices.com or you can contact us at 1-800-424-2047 and we can set one up over the phone.

Hi Keith! My name is Darold, part of your Sears Blue Crew! I reviewed the owner’s manual information for the model number you supplied. After reviewing the manual it appears that the Drive Control Bar would need to be completely disengaged to completely halt any forward movement. From your description is sounds like even though this may be released on your part it may not be completely disengaging which is causing the problem. If you need a replacement copy of the manual you can follow the link below. http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/owner_manuals/search?query=917377791+

I contacted Sears to replace the secondary drive belt on my lawn tractor. I was led to believe that the $96.00 service fee would go toward labor for said job. WRONG !!! For twenty minutes of work I was charged $220.46. Not only did the tech replace the belt he also installed a mulching kit I had purchased and sealed a tire, all in twenty minutes. So be careful when calling Sears for home repairs, I for one have learned my lesson and will refrain from contacting Sears in the future. EBS

Hi Blue Crew. I had place aluminium foil on the bottom of my Kenmore Elite self-cleaning oven, in an attempt to minimize the clean up during use. Somehow it had now become "baked on" to the bottom surface and I cannot detach it, even while the oven is hot. Help! Can you suggest how I can remove it without ruining the self-cleaning surface of the oven?

How do I replace the light bulb? Kenmore Oven model # 665 95002102 Serial #RP0Z43979 There is no wire holder as the instruction book shows.

Posted by James P. Forrest on June 28, 2009 at 10:55 AM CDT #

Hi James! This is Darold, part of your Sears Blue Crew! I located some material over this specific model oven to replace the light. 1 - Unplug range or disconnect power. 2 - Turn the glass bulb cover in the back of the oven counterclockwise to remove. 3 - Turn bulb counterclockwise to remove from socket. 4 - Replace bulb, then bulb cover by turning clockwise. 5 - Plug in range or reconnect power.

I purchased a new heating&air unit on 3 April 2009. Naturally, there was no need for air conditioning in April or May. But, there is definitely a need to use my a/c now! Problem, the new a/c doesn't work. I've all at least a dozen 1-800 numbers to get some one to schedule me an appointment for repair. Everyone is polite and nice in their air conditioned workplaces, however no one can schedule me an appointment because of your policy to have a repairman contact me within 24-48 hours (which has past). LOUSY POLICY. What if consumers had a POLICY not to pay Sears. If it were possible within the 24-48 hours waiting for the repairman to call to SCHEDULE the appointment, I would pack your HVAC and delivery right to your doorsteps and say thanks but no thanks.

Posted by sheila murray on June 29, 2009 at 07:35 PM CDT #

your repair people are non responsive, i had an appointment today between 8am and 12 - after several calls, no one showed up or even attemped to call me as they said they would. i think you appliances under the kenmore name are dreadful, as well as your service. i want my calypso washing machine fixed, it is only 4 years old and i have had 2 service calls prior to todays. I want service on this horrible product i purchased from you at a premium price. i intend to do an email campaigne at every web site, consumer site i know of since Sears has been so dreadful, and i am out $1200 on a washing machine which i thought was top of the line and can't even get service on 4 years later. no one on the Sears team will even come to repair the problem, not even a return call for the service department, scheduling department, HELP

Posted by cjadams on June 29, 2009 at 08:21 PM CDT #

Thank YOU!!!!!! A repairman woke me up this morning and fixed my HVAC. You've redeemed your reputation and name in my view. I was expecting the repairman to schedule me an appointment, as per your 'policy'. However, the repairman was twenty minutes away and came right over. Within minutes I had cold air blowing and the house cooled within a few minutes more. The repairman checked the entire system and found a refrigerant leak and repaired it. Thank you for such a quick response. I still disagree with the 24-48 hour policy to have repairman contact the consumer to schedule an appointment. The appointment should be scheduled as soon as the consumer initiate the first call.

I just purchased a new central air and heating system with electronic hepafilter and humedifyer system for the entire house all are TRANE brand. Now I would like to buy a service/maintenance agreement so I get the regular visits for tuneup and if they ever brake have someone to come and fix them. How/where do I purchase such agreement from Sears? Well, I need a price quote first, of course. Should I call the number for my refrigerator's agreement?

I have an old Kenmore, ultra fabic care, Heavy Duty 80 Series, Residential washer-M# 110-82983800; Stock # 29838; S#C92514435. I was not home when it happened but, My son (20yr old) said he heard a loud banging sound, like an off balance sound, so my wife shut it off. She and my son said that the whole inside tank seemed very loose and movable. I have pulled it out of the laundry room and tried to check it out, without doing an actual load of laundry. All I could determine was that the machine drains after the wash cycle but doesn't spin or refill for the rinse cycle. It does, however spin after the rinse cycle. I don't have an owner/operator's manual so I am not 100% sure what should in fact be happening. If I could get the owner's manual, or if from what I have told you, you could advise me if I would be waisting my time and $ trying to repair this machine I would appreciate your guidance.

Hi, Are Sears Appliance repair technicians certified to work on Bosch units. i.E Dishwashers and Ovens? Thanks!

Posted by Joe Pantovski on July 08, 2009 at 11:28 AM CDT #

Hi Debbie! This is Darold, part of your Sears Blue Crew! To identify whether the transmission or clutch has gone bad you can check the following things. The clutch on the riding mower is an idler pulley on a bracket that moves the pulley against the belt. The idler pulley tightens the belt when you let the clutch out and causes the input pulley on the transmission to turn. If the input pulley on the transmission is turning and the transmission is not driving the tractor, the transmission is bad. The idler pulley bracket rusts sometimes and doesn't move the pulley to tighten the belt. Look under the tractor and get someone to push the brake in and release it. You will see the idler pulley move as the brake/clutch is engaged and disengaged.

My replacement hot water tank was installed Tuesday at noon, it leaked and did not heat . Sears local installer returned to attach the factory disconnected blue wire to thermostat and to tightened upper leaky element. Got hot water but element still leaked. Wednesday, SEARS service came at 4 p.m. and tightened upper element. Thursday a.m., upper element still leaking. The thermostat is wet. I need hot water. Should I shut off the power? I want a new and properly assembled hot water tank. I have lost 3 days work waiting for installation and follow-up service on this tank. I cannot afford that loss of work. Each call to Sears service takes at least 30 minutes and has me passed to mulitple departments and still my water heater leaks. I want a good water heater and one properly installed and tested.

I scheduled a service call for an Amana Model SXD23VL side-by-side refrigerator - Appointment reference: 79621771 - Wednesday 9/16 - 1:00 - 5:00 PM. Will the repair tech be equipped to deal with the sealed system if the problem is a loss of refrigerant? I suspect that is the problem and don't want a tech to diagnose 'leak in the sealed system' and be unable to re-charge and re-seal the system. Can you respond?

We have Kenmore Pro Refrig(44823) and Freezer(44833) side by side. The Ice Maker is in the Freezer, the Filter for water supply for the Ice Maker is in the Refrig. We have had a bad taste with ice cubes since purchasing 1.5 yrs ago, and Sears sugggested replacing a plastic water supply line with Copper. We are presently doing that. The Instruction Manual shows the Water supply going to the valve on the bottom right (back side), then over to the Filter Inlet in Refrig, then back to Freezer Ice Maker Inlet. 2 Questions: 1. Should all 3 lines be copper? Sears supplied two plastic lines. 2. Order of connection: does it matter? Presently we are hooked up supply to Filter Inlet, Filter Outlet to Freezer inlet valve, then up to Ice Maker inlet connection. 18004MYHOME suggested looking at tech manuals online, but how do I get to them? Thanks, Bruce

My newly installed dishwasher will not drain.

Posted by Rich on November 30, 2009 at 06:21 PM CST #

Hello Rich, this is Cooper from the Sears Blue Service Crew. The first issue I would look for is if the dishwasher drain knock-out plug was properly removed. If the dishwasher was installed using the same drain hose as the previous dishwasher, then you could have a clog in the drain hose. A clog in the air gap or the disposer (or sink drain) that the drain hose is connected to could prevent the dishwasher from draining properly. The dishwasher is normally installed next to the sink. If the location of your dishwasher is further from the sink than normal, you could have a siphoning problem though the drain hose for the dishwasher. Also, the drain hose should have an anti-siphon drain loop arranged in the installation of the hose. If this drain loop is missing, then the dishwasher can also siphon drain water back into the dishwasher. Check the installation instructions for your new dishwasher to make sure that it is installed properly. If you installed a new garbage disposal, make sure that the dishwasher drain knock-out plug was properly removed.

Hi Joe Lis, I'm Cooper a Sears Blue Service Crew member. I will be happy to assist you with your fridge. My Kenmore electricial range is reading error message in red "E4" and -F3- in white, what does this mean?

Posted by Minita Bordies on December 26, 2009 at 05:02 PM CST #

This is Cameron with the Blue Services Crew. Minita Bordies, I'm sorry to hear your range is not working properly. I'd be happy to try and help figure out what is wrong, though. Without a model number, it is difficult to determine exactlty what is wrong, but by visiting www.ManageMyLife.com, I was able to find that an F3 error is most commonly an oven sensor issue for a Kenmore range. The F4 error indicates an oven temperature sensor failure. Sometimes, this issue can be fixed by simply removing power to the device (either by the plug, or the breaker) for one or more minutes. If that doesn't clear it out, it is most likely time for a technician to service the appliance. I hope this information is helpful to you.
