Common Comfort Concerns
Common Comfort Concerns
Before you can evaluate a heating or cooling system or brand, a company or even the service you need, you may need to ask yourself some questions and evaluate just exactly what is most important to you in this process. Use the tools and demonstrations in this area to help you prioritize your most important concerns so that when you begin evaluating products and brands you can ensure these are addressed. We will review some of the common questions people ask themselves during this process, help you understand how air flows through your home and how new systems help with that, how different filtration systems can impact your air quality and how humidity and temperature work together.Start Assessment
Many common comfort concerns may arise as your heater or air conditioner begins to decline or require repair. Consider these questions to help determine your needs.
- Have you noticed a steady increase in your utility bill?
- Does your system tend to run all of the time?
- Is the second floor always warmer/cooler than the first floor?
- Are some rooms warmer or cooler than others?
- Are you adjusting your thermostat constantly?
- Do you notice that your home is very dry or very humid?
If you answered "yes" to some or all of these questions, it may be time to repair or replace your heating or central air system. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Fill out the provided form to schedule your installation or repair appointment today. Continue to the next page for more diagnostic tools.
Part of your decision on a new heating and air conditioning system is how important air quality is to you. If you have someone in your household with breathing problems or allergies, then the answer may be very important. Perhaps you live near a road where a lot of dust is generated which you would like to keep from entering your home. Regardless of the level of filtration you need, we have systems that will fit your lifestyle.
Our healthy home solutions demo above can help you select the filtration level that is right for you. Get started by clicking on the vertical tabs to the right to see the difference in filters, and how they impact the airflow from a central heating and air conditioning system. On the filtration tab, click on the left and right arrows to see the different types of filtration and blocking capability. On the humidity tab, click on a temperature within the blocks to see how humidity impacts how temperature feels.
One common comfort concern is how it feels from room to room in your home. Sometimes you might notice that one room is warm while another is cool. Especially in climates with large variances in temperature, old units may not be able to moderate the changes well within the home. Insulation levels and duct leakage may also impact this. The interactive tool above demonstrates how air flows through the house with various types of systems and how variable air flow systems can help keep the temperature contstant throughout your home. Use the interactive air flow tool above to view how this works. First select the type of heating and air conditioning system you are interested in from the top menu bar (dual fuel, package system, etc.) Turn “on” or “off” the two stage demo button to show the differences in air flow that will happen as the temperature changes (you will see this by number of arrows next to the thermometer on the side of the house). Move the temperature on the thermometer up and down – the air flow will change throughout the house as shown by the moving arrows, while pop ups will explain what is happening with the system.

This is to let you know how pleased I am with the quick and efficient attention given me by Sears. A year ago I purchased a compressor and air handler and it was the beginning of many service calls. The contractor could find nothing wrong with the unit that kept giving off warm air versus cold air and cold air verses warm air, etc. I obtained Sears' phone number and not only was the associate polite and concerned, but she arrived at my home with a technician, two days later. The problem was identified!
Then, on Saturday, April 9, the same Associate called me to impart some information about my warranty that she said she would look into. With employees like herself and with their quick response times, your company should continue to satisfy and hold customers. Thanks to you all.
I recently purchased a combination furnace/air conditioner unit from Sears. Due to unsatisfactory and incomplete installation, I contacted Sears. The Associate responded immediately, in an effort to arrange proper installation, and even did follow up phone calls to ensure my satisfaction. I was very impressed with his dedication to objectively help me. I found our service technician to be very professional, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. He is a distinct asset to Sears and an employee that Sears can be very proud of. I recommend him highly. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to elaborate further. Sincerely,
