Located inside the home, the furnace contains a heat exchanger, burner and fan assembly. Air within the chamber is heated up by a fuel source (oil/gas) and the blower assembly moves the air across the exchanger and into the ductwork.
Boilers, also located inside the home, provide a self-contained source of heat. The heat exchanger heats your home via hot water distribution. Hydronic heating (radiant) runs hot liquid through tubes beneath the floor or through radiators. This energy-efficient, closed loop system provides heating flexibility.
Using electricity, heat pumps move heat from a cool space to a warm space. The cool space gets cooler and the warm space gets warmer. Where you live will determine what kind of heat pump is best for your home.
Forced Air Systems
This heating system distributes heat through your home by use of air. The heated air travels through the ducts and is released through the vents in the rooms in your home. When the temperature on your thermostat is reached, the system will shut off and begin again when the temperature drops below the initial setting.
Ductless heating and cooling systems deliver air directly into different zones in your home, instead of routing it through ducts. They are also called mini-split, multi-split, or variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pump systems. It's a cost-effective solution to replace inefficient electric heating and window air conditioners.

This is to let you know how pleased I am with the quick and efficient attention given me by Sears. A year ago I purchased a compressor and air handler and it was the beginning of many service calls. The contractor could find nothing wrong with the unit that kept giving off warm air versus cold air and cold air verses warm air, etc. I obtained Sears' phone number and not only was the associate polite and concerned, but she arrived at my home with a technician, two days later. The problem was identified!
Then, on Saturday, April 9, the same Associate called me to impart some information about my warranty that she said she would look into. With employees like herself and with their quick response times, your company should continue to satisfy and hold customers. Thanks to you all.
